Trends in social integration policy and research
- 9. – 10. November 2023 in Pilsen (The Czech Republic)
While the general understanding of migration is quite consistent and refers to movement, the conception of social integration is still controversial. We define social integration as part of the migration experience, as a two-way, multidimensional and complex process of interactions between individuals, communities and institutions in a specific context. The complexity and multidimensionality of this process poses many challenges for researchers, practitioners and public policy makers. The conference offers an opportunity to focus on the conceptual definitions of social integration, critical aspects of policy-making in relation to the integration of immigrants, and methodological questions connected with quantitative and qualitative research in the field of social integration
The conference programme will include two thematic sessions. The first will focus on the theoretical and political-philosophical framing of the issue of social integration, the second on the discussion of different forms of social integration research and the third section will be focused on creating public policies in the field of social integration and the existence of interventions in the context of social work and social services.
In mentioned thematic sessions, we would specifically like to discuss the following topics:
- social integration and identity
- social integration and “big data”
- social integration at a local level
- qualitative research on social integration
- czech integration policy in the context of Europe
- creation of public policies
- social work as integration work
We would also like to invite scholars who are active in the area of the social sciences and all people and organizations dealing with migration and integration to submit abstracts for the conference (Trends in Social Integration Policy and Integration Research). Anyone interested is invited to submit abstracts for one of the five topics mentioned above or attend poster sessions. We warmly welcome abstract proposals concerning any methodological, theoretical and thematic aspects related to social integration theory, public policy and the sociology of migration in a broader context
Deadline for registration: 30. 9. 2023
